CBK Continues to Enhance and Update Monthly Statistics Tables

Keen on assessing and updating its statistical bulletins, and seeking further development of its statistical data to provide integrated and comprehensive information in terms of scope of coverage, regularity, up-to-date data, and quality in line with the latest global best practices in the field, the Central Bank of Kuwait has updated the tables in its Monthly Monetary Statistical Bulletin as of the August 2024 issue.

In a press statement to this effect, the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait Basel Ahmad Al-Haroon said that CBK spares no effort to enhance statistical databases on the local banking and finance sector in particular, and monetary aggregates in general through expanding the data and information published by the Bank.

His Excellency the Governor added that the updated content of the Monthly Monetary Statistical Bulletin included addition of new tables and enhancing components of existing tables. The updates, he noted, affected tables on local banks which are now split into tables on conventional local banks showing assets and liabilities and comparable tables for Islamic banks. The changes also included splitting the table on Credit Facility Agreements into three tables (from now on specifying the number of those concluded with residents, non-residents, and total). The table of total deposits was also split into three tables (by residents, non-residents, and total).

Governor Al-Haroon concluded by stressing that CBK will continue its approach to enhance and boost transparency, as well as facilitate access to reliable data and statistics for all researchers and those interested in following up on local economic, banking and financial affairs.

The enhanced bulletin can be accessed as of August 2024 through CBK’s official website www.cbk.gov.kw.
