"Diraya" Campaign Launches Video Addressing e-Crimes

Keen to enhance financial awareness among all segments of our society, and in its efforts to bolster the banking sector’s social responsibility, the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) continues to oversee activities of “Be Aware” Campaign (Diraya in Arabic). The campaign, recently launched under CBK supervision in cooperation with Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) and with the participation of all Kuwaiti banks, aims to raise public awareness on the role of the banking sector and on how best to benefit from banks’ services.

In a statement, the CBK stressed the importance of increasing public awareness on e-fraud and e-crimes. Customers could be approached through email, text messages, smart phone applications, or even through direct phone calls where their confidential banking information such as account number, PIN number, and OTP number could be obtained and used for theft of money or personal data, the campaign warned.

Among the series of public service adverts disseminated as part of the “Diraya” campaign, an advert launched today indicates means to avoid e-fraud and to protect customers’ banking and personal data through avoiding any call or message from an unknown party. The advert also stresses that banks never ask for customers’ banking information via phone calls, emails, messages, or other means.

The awareness campaign messages are published through several channels, most importantly CBK and Kuwaiti banks’ accounts on social networks platforms. More information on the financial awareness campaign and its details are available through the official campaign website www.dirayakw.com .
