Last Reminder Concerning the Withdrawal and Exchange of the Fourth Issue of Currency Notes

Last Reminder Concerning the Withdrawal and Exchange of the Fourth Issue of Currency Notes

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) wishes to once more remind the honorable public of the decision of its Board of Directors on 9-8-1994, which provided for the withdrawal from circulation of all denominations of the fourth issue of currency notes by end of banking hours on Thursday 16-2-1995, at the latest. The decision also allowed the exchange of these notes until that date, at CBK, the commercial banks in the State of Kuwait and Kuwait Finance House.

Therefore, according to the provisions of the law and the decisions issued in this regard, the fourth issue of currency notes, which was put into circulation immediately after liberation, has ceased to be legal tender effective 16-2-1995. Use of these notes is therefore prohibited; holders thereof may exchange them only at CBK's cashier's offices, until end of banking hours in CBK's Banking Hall on Monday 16-8-2004. Past that date, the fourth issue of currency notes may not be exchanged by any means. For Reminder script in Arabic click here
